How To Select Your Wedding Vendor

If you are not working with a wedding planner who can assist you in vendor selection, I recommend going with your gut. I firmly believe that our feelings guide us appropriately. There is much to be said for intuition — an inner knowing.

If something feels “off” about the wedding vendor you are meeting with, then that person is probably not the right vendor for you. Not every vendor is a fit for every couple. Make sure you feel comfortable with the wedding professional you are meeting with, like them as a person, and feel that their personality will be a good fit with yours, and that the vendor will be able to reflect the tone of your wedding.

You should also ask the vendor for references and read online reviews posted by other brides. An unhappy bride is often quick to relay her experience to other brides.

Make sure the vendor has a good track record. You want to hire vendors that have experience and will still be in business on your wedding day.

I do not know the vendors you are meeting with and can only offer this information as a guideline to follow. So, look at each vendor carefully and ask as many questions as possible to insure that you are hiring the right wedding vendor for you.

Some questions to ask include:

  1. How many weddings do you do a year?
  2. How much experience do you have?
  3. What is your fee?
  4. What does your fee include?
  5. How much is the deposit?
  6. When are the balances due?
  7. What is your cancellation policy?
  8. Are there any additional fees?

Listen to the answers and tune into your feelings. What are they telling you?

If you choose wisely, the right wedding vendors will give you expert advice in their area of expertise and help you create a beautiful wedding day.
